VfB Stuttgart Chairman Reacts to Rummenigge’s Comments on Newcastle’s Woltemade Transfer
VfB Stuttgart’s chairman, Alexander Wehrle, has addressed the recent remarks made by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge regarding Newcastle United’s acquisition of Nick Woltemade.
Criticism from Rummenigge
Rummenigge, a prominent figure at Bayern Munich, referred to Newcastle as “foolish” for shelling out €90 million to Stuttgart for the young talent, Woltemade.
Rummenigge’s Remarks
- “When Stuttgart’s demands escalated, I mentioned to Uli Hoeness, Herbert Hainer, Jan Dreesen, and Max Eberl that the figures we are discussing have reached a level that I simply cannot accept,” Rummenigge stated.
- He humorously remarked that Stuttgart deserves congratulations for discovering an “fool” willing to spend such a hefty sum, adding, “That certainly wouldn’t be our approach in Munich.”
Wehrle’s Response
In a rather sarcastic reply, Wehrle told BILD: “We always appreciate congratulations from Munich…”
