South Africa crushed New Caledonia 5-0 at El Teniente Stadium in Rancagua to recover from their opening defeat to France.

The Amajita attacked relentlessly from the start and controlled possession. Siviwe Nkwali broke the deadlock with a powerful header in the 25th minute.

April April doubled the lead from the penalty spot nine minutes later. Siviwe Magidigidi extended the lead to 3-0 just before halftime.

After the break, South Africa maintained high intensity and continued to press forward. Magidigidi struck again in the 52nd minute, finishing a precise pass from Vilakazi.

Lazola Maku sealed the dominant win with a clinical finish in the 80th minute.

New Caledonia attempted a few counterattacks but failed to challenge the South African defense.

The result keeps South Africa’s qualification hopes alive ahead of their decisive final group match against the United States on Sunday.
