Kevin Muscat Poised to Take Over at Rangers
Shanghai Port’s head coach, Kevin Muscat, is on the verge of being appointed as the new manager of Rangers.
The club’s leadership has been in discussions with both Danny Rohl, a former Sheffield Wednesday boss, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but they are now in advanced negotiations with Muscat.
A Return to Ibrox on the Horizon
The former Rangers defender is anticipated to make his way back to Ibrox in November, coinciding with the conclusion of the Chinese football season.
Muscat has one year remaining on his contract with Shanghai, which means that Rangers might need to pay approximately £1.5 million as compensation to secure his services.
Plans for Interim Management
According to the Daily Record, Muscat has already identified his former assistant, Neil McCann, to take the helm temporarily in the upcoming weeks until he becomes officially available to assume the role.
The decision to turn to Muscat comes after previous manager Steven Gerrard withdrew from discussions last Saturday.
