Sergio Busquets Set to Retire After 2025 MLS Season

Spanish football icon Sergio Busquets is anticipated to conclude his professional playing career at the end of the 2025 MLS season with Inter Miami, wrapping up an extraordinary journey that spans two decades.

A Legendary Career

The 37-year-old midfielder is celebrated as one of the finest defensive players in the sport’s history, having clinched 32 titles during his tenure at his childhood club, FC Barcelona.

He logged an impressive 713 matches in 15 seasons with Barcelona, contributing 13 goals before making the move to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami in July 2023.

Retirement Announcement on the Horizon

According to reports from COPE journalist Nacho Garcia, Busquets is expected to publicly declare his retirement once the current MLS season concludes, coinciding with the end of his contract in late 2025.

The World Cup champion has hinted at his impending retirement, suggesting last summer that he was “much closer to ending my career than to continuing it.”

While Busquets has yet to confirm this officially, an announcement is widely anticipated to be forthcoming.
