Flamengo midfielder Saul Niguez has shared insights into his exit from Atletico Madrid earlier this year. He expressed that a major factor contributing to his decision was the perceived lack of confidence from both the coaching staff and the Atletico Madrid supporters.

Reflections on His Time at Atletico

The midfielder had a loan spell with Sevilla last season before ultimately leaving Atletico Madrid. In a conversation with RTVE, he stated,

It felt like the coaching staff wasn’t the only one that had doubts about me. Some fans started to see me in a different light. I’m not sure if it was due to expectations, but they never seemed satisfied with my performances.

Saul further remarked,

I knew I had more to offer, and everyone was aware of it, but their perception of me shifted. So, I thought, if a significant number of people don’t want me here, I don’t want to be a burden on Atletico Madrid.

He concluded,

If that’s how they feel, I must come to terms with it and move forward, wishing them nothing but the best.
