Samuel Eto’o secured a sweeping mandate to continue leading the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), winning 85 of 87 votes in Friday’s presidential election at the CAF Centre of Excellence in Mbankomo.
The 43-year-old former Barcelona and Inter Milan star ran unopposed and strengthened his grip on the federation four years after his first victory in December 2021.
He entered that first term with bold promises of transparency, reform and modern football management, and delegates showed strong belief in his direction by handing him another decisive win.
Eto’o intends to push deeper reforms during his new term as he targets a more professional domestic league, better infrastructure, and stronger national teams across all levels. He also aims to restore unity within the football community and revive several struggling sectors that continue to drag the game backward.
FIFA and CAF officials monitored the process to ensure full transparency and credibility, while local stakeholders rallied behind Eto’o’s vision for continuity and long-term progress.
His renewed mandate signals firm confidence in his leadership and places the responsibility on him to drive real transformation across Cameroon’s football ecosystem.
