South African Football Association CEO Lydia Monyepao says Safa continues talks with Bafana Bafana players over bonuses for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
She aims to seal an agreement before the squad reports to camp on 8 December at the University of Pretoria.
Monyepao stresses the need for early clarity to avoid the disputes that have disrupted other African teams in past tournaments.
She refers to Nigeria’s training boycott over unpaid bonuses as an example Safa wants to avoid.
Safa already engages with the team’s leadership group to speed up the process.
Monyepao says both sides have shared their proposals and now work toward final approval.
Preparations for the tournament progress as Safa attends a CAF workshop to confirm regulations and understand all logistical requirements.
Monyepao says the session allowed Safa to ask key questions and gather the information needed to plan properly.
She also explains that CAF will fund 23 players for the tournament.
Safa can finance up to four extra players if coach Hugo Broos wants a larger squad.
Monyepao says she expects 23 players but remains open to Broos adding more if needed.
