Romano Reveals Man Utd's Wild Interest in Bundesliga Sensation as INEOS Receives Asking Price for 'Next Adriano'

Man Utd Keeps a Close Eye on RB Leipzig’s Diomande

Manchester United is actively monitoring the progress of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the club is “highly interested” in the Ivorian talent.

Summer Spending and Current Performance

The Red Devils invested over £200 million in new players during the summer transfer window, with INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to support manager Ruben Amorim.

Despite this significant investment, Manchester United has struggled with inconsistency, securing only eight wins out of 19 matches in the Premier League this season.

Potential January Improvements

With January’s transfer window approaching, Manchester United is looking to strengthen multiple positions, and Romano notes that Diomande is one of their targets.

Romano shared on his YouTube channel: “Leipzig is not inclined to sell the player in January. They will strive to retain him during this period. Therefore, if a transfer occurs, it might be slated for the summer unless there’s persuasion toward a January deal—something challenging with the Red Bull Group.”

He added, “Several clubs have their eyes on him. Manchester United is following Diomande and is genuinely interested for the future. Tottenham and PSG are also keeping tabs on him, along with more Premier League teams.”

“Similar to Smit, acquiring Diomande will require a substantial investment. A fee of €60 million or €70 million is likely insufficient to persuade Leipzig. The cost is expected to be higher. Both Diomande and Smit are attracting significant interest ahead of the summer window.”

Additional Interests

Journalist Eduardo Burgos from Diario AS has indicated that Manchester United is also interested in Vasco da Gama forward Rayan, who has drawn comparisons to Brazilian legend Adriano.

Burgos noted on X: “AC Milan, Manchester United, and several Saudi Arabian clubs are observing Rayan’s situation. Vasco da Gama has set a buyout clause of €80 million. A transfer at this moment appears complicated, but progress is anticipated by summer.”

Manager’s Outlook

Despite the speculation surrounding potential signings, manager Ruben Amorim expressed uncertainty about new arrivals during a press conference on Friday.

Amorim stated, “The transfer window is not going to lead to immediate changes. Currently, there are no discussions about alterations to the squad.”

He emphasized the ongoing process, noting, “We are close to Champions League places, but we also have teams close behind us. Let’s concentrate on the next game—that’s our sole focus.”
