Romania vs Georgia Friendly International LIVE Football Score 2 June 2021

Georgia will make the short trip across the Black Sea this week for their international friendly against Romania on Wednesday evening. With no international tournaments on the agenda for either side this summer, both managers will be looking to prepare their teams for the World Cup Qualifiers in early September

Romania come into this friendly on the back of two consecutive defeats in their World Cup qualifying campaign, yet things are far from bleak for Mirel Radoi’s men. Against Armenia in late March, Romania were unfortunate not to come away with all three points after Alexandru Cicaldau put them 2-1 up in the second half, with Armenia scoring twice in the last four minutes of the tie.

Against Germany days earlier, Romania were beaten just 1-0, with Bayern Munich hotshot Serge Gnabry bagging the only goal of the game in the 16th minute. Currently fourth in Group J, Romania are definitely not down and out and could certainly get their campaign back on track over the course of the year.

A positive result against Georgia – who are ranked 43rd in the FIFA world rankings – would no doubt do wonders for the confidence of Radoi’s side. Georgia’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia celebrates scoring their first goal on March 28, 2021

However, Georgia, who are ranked 91st in the FIFA world rankings, are not a straightforward side to beat and head coach Willy Sagnol will be looking to build some confidence ahead of their next World Cup qualifier. Currently fourth in Group B with one point, Georgia’s position in the group does not accurately reflect the stoic nature and dogged resolve of Sangol’s men.

Romania will host Georgia at the Ilie Oana Stadium on Wednesday in an international friendly fixture. The two sides failed to secure qualification for Euro 2020 and will instead use this game as preparation for the resumption of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in September.

Romania suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Armenia in their last international fixture, played in March. The visitors were unlucky to lose the game as they held a 2-1 advantage heading into the final four minutes before a dramatic turnaround. Georgia played out a 1-1 draw with Greece. Two goals scored in the space of two minutes saw both sides share the spoils in Group B of UEFA’s section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Romania vs Georgia Head-to-Head

The two sides have met on five occasions in the past and Georgia are yet to win a game against the Romanians. The Tricolors have four wins and one game has been drawn.

Their most recent meeting came in a friendly played In June 2016 when Romania picked up a 5-1 victory en-route to their participation at Euro 2016.

The hosts have picked up two wins from their last five games. Georgia are winless in nine consecutive games.

Romania vs Georgia Prediction

The two sides tend to play compact conservative games and the absence of several key players for Georgia will rob them off some bite in attack.

The visitors have shown increased resolution and steel in recent months and this could translate into another tight and low-scoring encounter. We are predicting a narrow victory for Romania.

Prediction:Romania 1-0 Georgia
