Red Bulls Mintzlaff Discusses Klopps Position and Cautions Potential Pursuers
Klopp’s Future at Red Bull: No Plans to Leave
Speculation Surrounding Jurgen Klopp
The former manager of Liverpool, now serving as Red Bull’s global football director, has recently been in discussions regarding a possible return to Anfield. Additionally, he has emerged as a possible successor for Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid.
However, Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull, insists that any interest in Klopp is a matter for him to handle.
Mintzlaff’s Perspective on Klopp’s Commitment
“Jurgen Klopp feels completely at home with us and has already gained significant experience here,” Mintzlaff stated in an interview with Die Welt. “There’s no termination clause in his contract, indicating that he is fully committed to our organization.”
He continued, “He has no plans to seek other opportunities. If something were to arise, we would address it at that point. Nevertheless, currently, there are no signs of such a situation.”
Furthermore, Mintzlaff commented on the potential for the German Football Association (DFB) to reach out to Klopp, stating, “If the DFB were to make an approach towards Jurgen, I would question Bernd Neuendorf (President of the DFB) on why he wouldn’t want an exceptional national coach like Julian Nagelsmann.”
Klopp’s Role and Impact at Red Bull
When discussing Klopp’s influence within Red Bull, Mintzlaff remarked, “He has been instrumental in the resurgence of RB Leipzig. He significantly helped the team progress and balanced support effectively while allowing clubs the freedom they need.”
Mintzlaff also addressed concerns that Klopp might overshadow other figures in the organization: “There were fears that he would dominate everything here. However, the reality is that everyone gains from his contributions, while decisions ultimately sit with individual clubs.”
He emphasized, “Jurgen Klopp was our marquee signing, arriving on a free transfer. His presence makes a considerable difference when communicating with young players we aim to recruit.”
The Philosophy and Style Infused by Klopp
“Klopp has tremendous credibility when he conveys why joining Leipzig, New York, or our club in Brazil is a crucial advancement. Much of his work happens behind the scenes, including ongoing discussions with coaches across clubs regarding developments and questions, always proposing suggestions,” Mintzlaff added.
“The final decisions rest with Ole Werner and his team at the clubs. Nevertheless, Klopp plays a vital role in ensuring we stay true to our unique playing style. His mantra, ‘Intensity is our identity,’ reflects how we aspire to perform on the field. He consistently instills this approach and continues to evolve it.”
