Raul Jimenez: Fulhams Forward Matches Yaya Toure for Premier League Penalty Excellence
Penalty Expert Jimenez Matches Record – Who Are the Premier League’s Finest?
Fulham’s Long-Awaited Penalty Victory
Fulham had been waiting nearly a year for a penalty in the Premier League, but the outcome was never in question. Raul Jimenez confidently converted Fulham’s first penalty since their match against Ipswich in January 2025, leading the team to a 1-0 triumph over Nottingham Forest. This victory positions Jimenez just two successful penalties away from clinching a Premier League record.
Jimenez Joins Elite Company
The Mexican forward has now matched Yaya Toure, becoming one of the select players to have converted all of their penalties after taking ten or more. Both players hold an impressive record of 11 successful penalties out of 11 attempts.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer briefly set a record by scoring 12 consecutive penalties after netting two against Tottenham in December 2024. However, his winning streak ended with a saved penalty against Leicester in March, thus interrupting his 100% conversion rate.
Reaching New Heights
Jimenez now only needs two more successful penalties to claim the title of the player with the most successful spot-kicks in Premier League history before experiencing a miss. He stated, “It’s always what I do. I do it well, so it’s something I have been training my whole career. I like to have this pressure with these penalties. I’m happy to score.”
The forward is proud of his flawless record in the Premier League, expressing his desire to continue converting penalties confidently. “More penalties to come, I’ll be there,” he added.
Mbeumo’s Record and Toney’s Near Miss
Bryan Mbeumo had joined the ranks of the perfect penalty-takers by converting 10 out of 10 in April but saw his streak come to an end when he had a penalty saved by Fulham just a month later. Ivan Toney, his former teammate at Brentford, also achieved a 10 for 10 record but could not replicate Toure’s standard when he missed his 11th penalty against Newcastle in 2023.
The Premier League’s Most Clinical Penalty Takers
The record for the most penalties scored in the Premier League belongs to Alan Shearer, who netted 56 penalties across 67 attempts. Among those who have successfully converted numerous penalties, Frank Lampard, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Steven Gerrard, and Mark Noble also rank highly, although they don’t make the top tier of the most clinical from the spot.
Following Toure and Jimenez, Matt le Tissier boasts the third-best conversion rate, scoring 24 out of 25 penalties. Remarkably, his only miss occurred during his third Premier League penalty, saved by Nottingham Forest’s Mark Crossley in March 1993.
