As we approach the final stretch of the season, some teams, such as Utah Royals and Chicago Stars, are battling to climb up the standings. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Current are living proof of the adage ‘the rich get richer.’ They’ve boosted their already formidable lineup with the addition of U.S. Soccer’s Young Female Player of the Year, Ally Sentnor.
So, who’s leading the pack? And who’s falling short of expectations? Let’s dive into the latest 2025 NWSL Power Rankings, courtesy of INDIVISA.
Utah Royals
Prior Ranking: 14
Result: Drew Orlando Pride 1-1
Utah made headlines by sending Ally Sentnor to Kansas City Current in a blockbuster trade. Yet, even without Sentnor, the Royals held their own against the Pride, picking up a crucial point. However, they remain at the bottom of the league with just one win this season.
Chicago Stars
Prior Ranking: 13
Result: Drew Gotham FC 1-1
Despite a lackluster performance against Gotham, the Stars managed to salvage a draw, thanks to Ally Schlegel’s second-half equalizer. Still, the team’s struggle to pick up three points continues.
Houston Dash
Prior Ranking: 12
Result: Drew Bay FC 2-2
Goalkeeper Jane Campbell shone for the Dash in their draw against Bay FC, making five saves. The Dash, however, are still a long way from the playoff zone and will need to rack up points in upcoming games.
Bay FC
Prior Ranking: 11
Result: Drew Houston Dash 2-2
Bay FC scored first against the Dash but ended up conceding two goals. The team has all the right pieces for a successful season; they just need to start stringing together more wins.
Angel City
Prior Ranking: 10
Result: Lost to Seattle Reign 2-0
Angel City was left searching for answers after a defeat at the hands of Seattle Reign. Despite having more chances on goal, they are now in a slump, losing five of their last six matches.
North Carolina Courage
Prior Ranking: 8
Result: Drew San Diego Wave 0-0
The Courage managed to hold off the Wave but struggled to create scoring opportunities. They’re just below the playoff line in ninth place and need a strong second half of the season to secure their spot in the postseason.
Portland Thorns
Prior Ranking: 7
Result: Lost to Washington Spirit 2-1
The Thorns played evenly against the Spirit but were unable to prevent Rodman from sealing the game. Sitting in sixth place, they’ll be looking to get back on the winning track.
Seattle Reign
Prior Ranking: 9
Result: Beat Angel City 2-0
Seattle Reign has emerged as the team to watch in the second half of the season. Following some major summer transfers and key players’ return, they dominated Angel City, thanks to Jessica Fishlock’s powerful finish and a late own-goal.
Kansas City Current
Prior Ranking: 1
Result: Beat Racing Louisville 2-0
Top of the league, the Current didn’t miss a beat during the break. They returned stronger, defeating Racing Louisville on the road, and further strengthened their lineup with the addition of midfield sensation Ally Sentnor. With a 12-2-0 record, they’re comfortably sitting in first place.
