Parker Criticizes Rashford’s Lack of Effort at Man Utd Compared to His Performance Against Barcelona
Paul Parker Criticizes Marcus Rashford’s Performance at Barcelona
Former Manchester United player Paul Parker has harshly criticized Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona, as he showcases strong performances in Spain.
Rashford Shines in Barcelona
Marcus Rashford’s stint at Barcelona has proved successful so far, as he recorded five goals and five assists in just 12 matches. This includes a standout performance where he netted twice in a 6-1 win against a ten-man Olympiakos in the Champions League last Tuesday.
Parker Calls Out Rashford’s Attitude
Rashford joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United during the summer transfer window, quickly making an impact under manager Hansi Flick. Nevertheless, Parker expressed disappointment regarding Rashford’s previous time at United, suggesting a lack of ambition.
“He let his teammates down. He was lazy; he didn’t contribute enough. If he returns to England, he has much to prove. How many players in the UK would trust him on their team?” Parker remarked.
He emphasized the high stakes of playing at a top club, noting, “It was life and death when I played, and that should be inherent in every player. Rashford appears to lack this drive. He has placed himself in a tough position by not giving 100% for the club he’s supported since childhood.”
He further questioned Rashford’s commitment: “If you can’t perform for the club you’ve known since you were a child, despite claiming to love it and the city, your position becomes questionable.”
Rashford’s Place Among Barcelona Stars
Barcelona reportedly has an option to make Rashford’s loan permanent next year for £25 million, with an additional £5 million contingent on performance bonuses. Parker has his doubts about Rashford’s significance within Barcelona’s squad, stating, “While he has done decently, I don’t see him as a key player. Would he start in a Champions League final over Yamal, Raphinha, and Lewandowski? I doubt it. It seems that everything regarding Rashford is overshadowed by political elements.”
Looking ahead, Rashford is set to face his first El Clasico this Sunday, presenting him with the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities and silence critics like Parker.
