Crystal Palace’s Steve Parish Addresses Adam Wharton Transfer Speculation
Crystal Palace’s chairman, Steve Parish, expressed confidence regarding the ongoing transfer rumors surrounding Adam Wharton and Manchester United.
Wharton Attracting Manchester United’s Attention
Recent reports indicate that Manchester United has identified Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as a top target for a potential transfer in 2026, with the England international valued at approximately £60 million.
Parish Responds to Transfer Talk
During an interview with talkSPORT, Parish remarked, “If Manchester United is interested in Adam Wharton, it’s not particularly surprising.” He continued by emphasizing the player’s contractual situation: “He has a long-term deal with us, which means there’s no immediate urgency on our part to make a transfer happen, nor do I believe there’s any significant pressure from Adam.”
Parish further commented on Wharton’s aspirations, stating, “I expect that at some point, Adam will have ambitions to play in the Champions League—either with us, should we reach that level, or with another club.”
He highlighted Wharton’s potential, calling him “an extraordinary talent.” Parish noted, “As far as I can tell, Adam is currently focused on his career at Crystal Palace. He experienced a challenging season last year due to some groin issues, which are not uncommon among young players.”
Focused on the Present
Parish concluded by affirming Wharton’s commitment to the club: “This season, Adam is concentrating on getting game time, aiming for inclusion in the England squad, and consistently performing for us amidst a challenging match schedule. I believe he is dedicated to our club, and I’m unsure where these rumors are originating from.”
