Lucas Paquetá Chooses Flamengo Over Chelsea and Tottenham

Brazilian Midfielder’s Return

Lucas Paquetá has confirmed that he turned down offers from Chelsea and Tottenham in order to join Flamengo this week. The talented Brazilian midfielder has made the switch from West Ham to Flamengo for a fee of €40 million.

A Long-Term Commitment

Paquetá, 28, has signed a contract with Flamengo that will keep him at the club until 2030.

Remarks from Paquetá

In an interview with Flamengo TV, he shared insights into his decision-making process: “Tottenham reached out, Chelsea made their approach, and amusingly enough, Tata (his agent) was quite enthusiastic and mentioned, ‘Chelsea is calling, they’re going to submit an offer.'”

Paquetá continued, “I responded, ‘That’s all well and good, but what’s the situation with Flamengo?’ His reaction was one of surprise, but I was clear: ‘I’m not interested in that. I want to discuss Flamengo,’ and thus, the decision was made.”
