Transfer Details
Finnish U21 player Otto Ruoppi is set to join Mainz after the Bundesliga club finalized his transfer on the last day of the transfer window from Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS). The 20-year-old will conclude the current season by wearing the colors of the Veikkausliiga champions on a loan basis.
Financials and Background
As reported by Transfermarkt, Mainz invested €1.3 million to secure the services of the attacking midfielder. Ruoppi, who just turned 20, has already made 98 appearances for KuPS’s first team. This season alone, he has participated in 64 competitive matches.
European Competition Participation
His appearances include 14 matches across all three European competitions this season. While KuPS faced early exits in both the Champions League and Europa League qualifying rounds, they have advanced to the playoff stage of the Conference League, where they will compete against Lech Poznań. Club’s Perspective
Niko Bungert, Mainz’s sporting director, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “With Otto Ruoppi, we have managed to sign a promising Finnish talent. We anticipate gaining a midfielder who is both calm under pressure and poses a goal-scoring threat.”
