Victor Osimhen Sidelined for Two Weeks
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has announced that Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen will miss the next two weeks after suffering an injury.
Osimhen picked up the setback during the first half of Nigeria’s defeat to DR Congo in the African World Cup playoff final at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium.
He could not continue and left the pitch at halftime, allowing Sevilla forward Akor Adams to replace him.
Nigeria later lost on penalties, missing a second straight World Cup.
Özbek provided an update after the match and explained that Osimhen needs around two weeks to recover.
He also stressed that the club wants the striker back in time for their crucial league meeting with Fenerbahçe in December.
“Osimhen will undergo a recovery period of about two weeks,” Özbek told Habersarikirmizi.
“Our priority is to have him ready for the Fenerbahçe match, and our medical team is working intensely toward that goal.”
With that timeline, Osimhen should return ahead of Galatasaray’s clash with Fenerbahçe on 1 December 2026.
His rehabilitation, however, will force him to miss their next two fixtures — the Turkish Super Lig match against Gençlerbirliği and the UEFA Champions League game against Union Saint-Gilloise.
Osimhen has been in excellent form this season and continues to play a central role in Galatasaray’s attack.
He has scored nine goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, showing how vital he remains as the club pushes forward in its campaign.
