Jesus Aims for World Cup Selection with Brazil
Ambitions for Global Stage
Striker Igor Jesus has expressed his aspirations to make it to the World Cup while competing for European honors with Nottingham Forest. The 25-year-old forward has managed to score once in five appearances for the national team and is keen on securing his place in Brazil’s squad for the upcoming tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Current Performance
Jesus is currently the top scorer in the Europa League with seven goals, and he is in Porto with his team for the first leg of the quarter-finals scheduled for Thursday. This season, he has found the net 13 times, although only three of these goals have come in the Premier League, following his transfer from Botafogo last summer for £10 million.
Dream of Representing Brazil
“At the World Cup, it would be a dream to be among the players selected, and I believe I possess the necessary skills for it, but my performance here will play a crucial role,” he stated at Estadio do Dragao. “I am training consistently and always aim to support my teammates to the best of my ability.”

The forward contributed to the team’s success with a goal in the 3-0 knockout victory over Fenerbahce during Vitor Pereira’s first game in charge. He is eager to add to his tally against the Portuguese league leaders and will face fellow Brazilian international and former Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva.
“I feel really fortunate to be the top scorer; it’s no small task to achieve this position. I consistently strive to give my all for the team. Tomorrow’s match is vital, and I’m confident we can succeed,” emphasized Jesus.
Focus on the Match
“Silva is an outstanding center-back, but I’m focused solely on putting forth my best effort to aid the team. He is a great player, and our squad is filled with talented individuals. We are all poised to make the most of this opportunity and secure a win,” he added confidently.
“We are fully aware of our capabilities, and we trust in our ability to perform well.”
