Barcelona Midfielder Fermin Lopez Clarifies Transfer Speculations

Barcelona’s midfielder Fermin Lopez has disclosed that although he was approached with several transfer proposals during the summer window, none came from Real Madrid. He also revealed that he declined a last-minute offer from Chelsea.

Chelsea’s Attempt for Lopez

Chelsea aimed to acquire the talented 22-year-old towards the end of the summer transfer period but saw their bid of approximately £35 million rejected by Barcelona.

Hansi Flick’s Desire to Retain Lopez

Manager Hansi Flick expressed a strong interest in keeping Lopez integrated into the team, recognizing him as a vital asset in their pursuit of additional titles this season. Despite considering Chelsea’s offer momentarily, Lopez chose to stay with Barcelona to further his career development.

In a discussion with RAC1, Lopez remarked, “I didn’t give much thought to the offer, and I believe they didn’t intend to sell me either.” He acknowledged receiving multiple inquiries from other clubs but clarified, “I received some, yes, but I don’t think any were from Real Madrid.”

Lopez has been in excellent form this season, netting two goals in five matches across all competitions to date.
