Niclas Füllkrug’s Desire to Leave West Ham United This Winter
Agent Acknowledges Player’s Intentions
The representative of Niclas Füllkrug has revealed that the forward is keen to exit West Ham United during the winter transfer window. After enduring a challenging 18 months marred by injuries while in England, the German striker is contemplating a potential loan move back to the Bundesliga. Numerous clubs in Germany are likely to be interested in securing the 32-year-old through a low-risk loan arrangement.
Potential Moves in the Bundesliga
Earlier this year, Füllkrug had been tentatively associated with a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt. However, this possibility has diminished following the signing of his national teammate Jonathan Burkardt by the club. A more logical transfer would see Füllkrug returning to his former team, Werder Bremen.
Bremen is currently participating in the Bundesliga season without a dedicated striker. Recent Leverkusen loan acquisition Victor Boniface, who has focused on improving his fitness, has featured in the last two matches for the team. Nevertheless, he has yet to find the back of the net since joining.
Analyzing Füllkrug’s Situation
“It’s unfortunate because he suits the Premier League perfectly,” Firth commented on the podcast. “He possesses physical strength and embodies the characteristics of a traditional penalty box striker. Unfortunately, he’s faced a string of bad luck and a negative trend. The move [to West Ham] hasn’t been successful. We can’t pretend otherwise.”
“How much longer should we continue like this?” Wirth added. “Perhaps it’s time for a change. A response might be warranted right now.”
Sky Germany has confirmed that Füllkrug is eager to find a new club this winter, where he can more readily secure playing opportunities once he regains his fitness.
