Newcastle’s Gordon Calls Rummenigge’s Remarks “Foolish

Newcastle winger Gordon brands Rummenigge comments as "stupid"

Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon Responds to Rummenigge’s Criticism

Newcastle’s winger Anthony Gordon has responded sharply to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s remarks regarding the club’s acquisition of Nick Woltemade.

Controversial Comments from the Bayern Executive

The Bayern Munich executive referred to Newcastle as “fools” for reportedly investing €90 million to bring Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart.

However, the young German forward has already netted three goals since joining his new team.

Gordon Defends Woltemade’s Performance

Gordon expressed his confusion over Rummenigge’s critique, stating, “I don’t see how you can comment on a player who isn’t in your own squad. Honestly, it seems somewhat foolish, especially considering the player has begun positively. Such comments might be warranted if the player was struggling, but this feels a bit off since he’s already scored three times.”

Additionally, the Newcastle forward emphasized Woltemade’s skills and his adjustment to English football: “He plays very differently compared to (Alexander) Isak, so it will take us a little while to adjust to his playing style.

“But he performed exceptionally against Union Saint-Gilloise, maintaining possession well despite being under constant pressure. It’s truly enjoyable to be on the pitch with him.”
