Nagelsmann's Elevation: Former Bundesliga Coach Recruited by Germany for World Cup

Alfred Schreuder Joins DFB Coaching Staff Ahead of World Cup

New Addition to the Team

The DFB coaching staff is set to welcome a new member. Alfred Schreuder will join the sidelines for the upcoming international fixtures against Switzerland and Ghana. The former Hoffenheim manager, who has previously worked alongside Julian Nagelsmann, will be part of the national team until the end of the World Cup.

Head Coach’s Statement

“I hold Alfred in high regard both as a coach and as an individual. His vast experience will be a tremendous benefit to our team as we prepare for the World Cup,” stated head coach Nagelsmann in an official DFB announcement. “We decided to bring him on as an additional expert so that Mads Buttgereit can focus entirely on set pieces during our training sessions.”

Focus on Set Pieces

“We anticipate set pieces will be even more crucial in this World Cup. Therefore, we aim to enhance our emphasis on them during training and our preparations,” Nagelsmann added.

Schreuder’s Remarks

“I had the privilege of working alongside Julian Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim, where we built a strong and successful partnership. His courage and ambition as a young coach left a lasting impression on me. We have maintained a close relationship since then, and I am honored to support him and his team at the World Cup,” Schreuder commented in the DFB statement.

Background of Alfred Schreuder

Currently, Schreuder is coaching Al-Diraiyah in Saudi Arabia. His coaching journey includes head roles in the United Arab Emirates, Ajax, and Club Brugge. From 2020 to 2021, he served as an assistant coach under Ronald Koeman at FC Barcelona.
