MTN Elite U19: Volta Claims First Victory While Eastern Edges Western to Sustain Flawless Start

Volta Region Claims First Victory in MTN Elite U19 Championship

Narrow Win Over Upper East Region

The Volta Region achieved their initial triumph in the MTN Elite U19 Championship with a hard-earned 1–0 win against the Upper East Region on Saturday, held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

A pivotal goal scored by Nathaniel Adanu in the 34th minute ultimately distinguished the teams in this tightly contested match. This victory is a significant rebound for Volta Region after their previous 3–1 loss to Ashanti Region in their first Group B match.

Upper East’s Struggles Continue

For the Upper East Region, this latest defeat extends their challenging streak, as they have yet to secure a win in the tournament, following a heavy 4–0 loss to Greater Accra in their opening fixture.

Eastern Region Maintains Perfect Record

In the later match on Saturday, Eastern Region maintained their flawless run in the tournament by edging out Western Region with a single goal, marking their second consecutive win.

Bawa Mahdi emerged as the standout player for Eastern, scoring the decisive goal with a beautifully executed free kick. Additionally, Prince Boakye, the dynamic left winger for Eastern, was honored as the Best Player of the Match due to his exceptional performance.

While Eastern Region sits comfortably at the top of their group with no losses, Western Region continues to seek their first victory after two consecutive defeats.
