Exciting Start to the Tournament
The inaugural MTN Elite U-19 Championship has officially commenced at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, following a grand opening ceremony on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Distinguished Guests at the Opening Ceremony
The ceremony was presided over by Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, Chairman of the Planning Committee and Member of Parliament for Ketu North. He was accompanied by Executive Council Members Samuel Aboabire and Gideon Fosu, as well as the Chairman of the National Juvenile Committee, Joe Salam Abubakar.
Thrilling First Match
The tournament kicked off with an exhilarating match where the Eastern Region came from behind to triumph over the Upper West Region, winning 5-2. This impressive start sets a thrilling precedent for the subsequent 11-day tournament, which features 10 regional teams from across Ghana competing for the prestigious national title.
Commitment to Youth Development
The Elite U-19 Championship is proudly sponsored by MTN Ghana and forms a crucial aspect of the GFA’s “Power to the Youth” initiative. This initiative is designed to create a structured pathway for budding talents to progress from grassroots football to national and professional levels.
