Patrice Motsepe confirmed Morocco will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, ending weeks of speculation about a possible change of venue.

Speaking in Kinshasa during the 47th CAF General Assembly, the Confederation of African Football president directly addressed recent rumours suggesting Morocco might lose the tournament.

“Morocco is our plan A, our plan B, and our plan C,” declared the South African football chief, leaving no doubt about CAF’s position on the issue.

Reports from some Algerian publications had claimed that CAF questioned Morocco’s readiness and considered alternative arrangements.

Motsepe rejected those claims and stressed Morocco’s proven ability to organise major football competitions.

He underlined CAF’s full confidence in the Kingdom’s preparations, noting that infrastructure projects and planning continue to progress in line with expectations.

“We have no doubts about Morocco’s readiness. They remain fully committed to hosting Africa’s biggest football event,” he added.

The AFCON is Africa’s most prestigious football tournament, bringing together the continent’s top national teams and attracting global audiences.

Hosting it provides Morocco with an opportunity to showcase both its football culture and organisational strength.

Motsepe’s clear stance seeks to reassure member associations, sponsors, and fans ahead of the tournament.

By shutting down speculation, CAF aims to maintain stability and focus on delivering a successful competition.

Moroccan authorities have invested heavily in stadium upgrades, transport networks, and accommodation facilities to meet international standards.

CAF has maintained close contact with local organisers and expressed satisfaction with the progress made.

With less than three months to kick-off, the focus now shifts away from rumours to anticipation.

Motsepe’s reaffirmation ensures preparations continue without distraction as Africa readies for its premier football event.
