Moses Sichone Replaces Avram Grant As Zambia Head Coach

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has named Moses Sichone as the new head coach of the Chipolopolo.

Sichone, who previously worked as assistant coach under Avram Grant, will lead the national team into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

According to FAZ, Sichone will work with a technical team made up of his former teammates, Andrew Sinkala and Perry Mutapa, as first and second assistant coaches respectively.

The 2012 AFCON-winning goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene will serve as the team’s goalkeeper coach, while Noel Mwandila joins as strikers’ coach and Joseph Musonda handles fitness training.

Confirming the appointments, FAZ Secretary General Machacha Shepande said: “The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is excited to announce the new chapter of the Chipolopolo which sees the youthful and dynamic quartet of Moses Sichone, Andrew Sinkala, Perry Mutapa and Kennedy Mweene appointed in charge of the Chipolopolo project.”

Sichone’s assistants bring wealth of experience with Sinkala, a former Bayern Munich and FC Köln midfielder, and holds a UEFA B Plus Licence, while Mutapa currently manages Green Eagles FC in the Zambian Premier League.

Sinkala and Mutapa’s partnership dates back to their playing days, having featured together for Zambia at the 1999 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
