Morocco’s under-17 women’s team defeated Costa Rica 3-1 on Friday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
The victory came in their final Group A match of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
Mayssa Baha opened the scoring early for Morocco in the 4th minute.
The forward struck again in the 39th minute from the penalty spot, giving her team a strong 2-0 lead before halftime.
Morocco dominated the first half with pace and creativity.
Their pressing game forced Costa Rica into mistakes, while Baha and her teammates controlled the midfield and stretched the defence.
After the break, Morocco continued to dictate play and pushed for more goals.
Their effort paid off in the 77th minute when Costa Rican defender Fabiana Alfaro turned the ball into her own net, making it 3-0.
Costa Rica fought hard in the closing moments and pulled one back through Naima Moya in the 90th minute plus five.
However, the late goal could not prevent Morocco from securing a well-deserved victory.
The young Moroccan side celebrated the win with fans, who filled the stands with chants and flags.
The result capped off a confident group-stage campaign for the host nation, who impressed with teamwork, discipline, and attacking flair.
Baha’s double once again highlighted her importance to the team’s success.
