Monchi Unveils Future Plans Following Villa Departure; Hints at Possible Sevilla Comeback

Monchi Shifts Focus to Local Team San Fernando After Aston Villa Exit
Departure from Aston Villa
Former chief of Aston Villa, Monchi, announced his resignation this week after a two-year tenure in England. Despite stepping down from his position at Villa, he will remain connected as a consultant for the club’s parent company, V Sports.
Commitment to San Fernando
In addition to his role at V Sports, Monchi will assume the presidency of San Fernando, a local club.
Monchi stated, “I don’t advocate for projects that resemble towering skyscrapers. It’s imperative to build a strong foundation first.”
He emphasized, “Our aim is to progress gradually and methodically so that the team develops in a stable and sustainable manner. This project is like a baby learning to walk; we prefer it to take its time rather than rush.”
Future Speculations
When asked about the possibility of returning to Sevilla FC, he remarked, “Currently, Sevilla is in capable hands. Any comment on this matter would be disrespectful to the people involved there.”
On the potential takeover spearheaded by Fede Quintero and Antonio Lappí for Sevilla, Monchi expressed his support for the duo.
He referred to Lappi as “my friend and a highly successful entrepreneur” and spoke of Quintero as “my brother.”
Monchi noted that he is open to considering their proposal, but he has specific conditions: “They bring enthusiasm, expertise, and a passion for the game, and I genuinely believe they are credible. The future remains uncertain.”
He added, “I trust that together they will contribute positively. I will certainly listen to their ideas, although everything must align with our plans for San Fernando.”
