Monchi Doubts Villa Owners’ Interest in Sevilla Acquisition

Monchi, who previously held key positions at Sevilla and recently departed from Aston Villa, expressed skepticism regarding the club’s current ownership pursuing a takeover of Sevilla.

Focus on Aston Villa’s Future

In a conversation with El Desmarque, Monchi shared his thoughts on Villa’s owners, particularly Nassef Sawiris, with whom he has maintained a significant rapport. He noted, “They are very much concentrating on their investment in Aston Villa. Plans are in motion for an upgrade of Villa Park, which is set to add an additional 10,000 seats with significant financial investment directed towards it.”

Strategic Considerations

Monchi elaborated that while the Villa leadership is contemplating the acquisition of smaller, satellite clubs to support their operational strategy, he does not foresee a direct comparison between Aston Villa and other major teams. “I don’t view this as a parallel—especially not concerning Sevilla,” he stated, emphasizing that he does not see any impending transactions involving major clubs at this time.
