Monaco Manager Pocognoli Cant Dismiss Potential Departure of Akliouche Amid Man City Interest
AS Monaco’s Sébastien Pocognoli Acknowledges Fight to Retain Maghnes Akliouche
AS Monaco’s head coach Sébastien Pocognoli recognizes the challenge they face in retaining Maghnes Akliouche as the January transfer window approaches.
Interest from Top Clubs
Clubs including Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen, and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in the talented winger.
Reports from L’Équipe indicate that Manchester City’s interest has not waned, even after they acquired Rayan Cherki in the summer.
Coach’s Stance
“I rely on all my players for the second half of the season,” Pocognoli stated.
“However, the decision regarding Maghnes is ultimately his to make. His future lies in his hands.”
The coach highlighted Akliouche’s significance to the team, while also suggesting that a January transfer may not align with his current development.
“There are still numerous aspects he can enhance before taking that next step,” he noted.
He further emphasized that he has not requested management to restrict potential transfers.
“Did I ask the club to close the door on a sale? No. I am content with my roster and will utilize what I have when the window shuts. Adaptability has been my approach since day one.”
During the previous summer, reports suggested that Monaco valued Akliouche at €70 million.
