Middlesbrough Experiences Disappointment as Edwards Engages in Talks With Wolves

"Disappointed" Middlesbrough allow Edwards to hold talks with Wolves

Middlesbrough Allows Manager Rob Edwards to Engage With Wolves

Middlesbrough has granted permission to their head coach, Rob Edwards, to enter discussions with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After turning down an initial request earlier in the week, Boro has now reached an agreement regarding compensation with Wolves, allowing Edwards the opportunity to converse with the Premier League side.

Boro’s Statement and Interim Arrangements

Middlesbrough made the decision to stand down Edwards during their match against Birmingham City, releasing a statement prior to kickoff to clarify the circumstances.

The statement read:

Middlesbrough Football Club has, pending the finalization of an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, allowed head coach Rob Edwards to communicate with Wolves.

We initially declined an inquiry from Wolves based on the fact that Rob signed a three-year deal with MFC less than six months ago.

After discussions with Rob, we were disheartened to find out that he was interested in speaking with Wolves about their head coach position. We have now reached an agreement with Wolves, subject to the completion of the necessary paperwork.

First team coaches Adi Viveash and Harry Watling, along with Academy manager Craig Liddle, will oversee team operations for Saturday’s match against Birmingham City at the Riverside.
