Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, has expressed high hopes for Dowman, likening his talents to those of Lionel Messi. “He is undeniably one of the best talents I have encountered at such a young age,” Arteta remarked. “What he has achieved with us at just 15 is remarkable. It’s something I’ve seldom witnessed before, maybe only with a player from Barcelona. He possesses a rare charisma and composure that sets him apart, no matter the pressure or atmosphere.”

Dowman’s Perspective

Reflecting on his commitment to Arsenal, Dowman stated, “This club has been my home since I was eight, and it means a great deal to me.” He highlighted the clear pathway to success within the club, citing inspiring figures like Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Ethan Nwaneri, who have successfully progressed through the academy.

Contract Details

Dowman’s agreement indicates that he will start as a scholar in the upcoming summer, ultimately leading to a full professional contract. At just 15 years and 234 days old, he made history as the second-youngest player to don an Arsenal jersey, as well as the second-youngest to compete in the Premier League. His teammate, Nwaneri, currently on loan at Marseille, holds both youthful records.

This past November, Dowman became the youngest player to participate in a Champions League match when he came on as a substitute during a 3-0 victory against Slavia Prague.

Despite encountering some setbacks due to an ankle injury, Dowman has made five appearances for Arsenal’s senior team this season.
