Man Utd Set to Make £87.5M Offer for Palaces Wharton as Casemiro Replacement
Manchester United Eyes Adam Wharton in Major Transfer Move
Wharton on United’s Radar
Manchester United is gearing up to make a significant offer for Crystal Palace’s midfielder Adam Wharton this summer. Wharton has been highlighted as a prime transfer target for the club, alongside other names like Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest, and Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, is anticipated to part ways with Casemiro when his contract concludes next summer. Additionally, it appears that Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte may not return for the upcoming season.
According to reports from Manchester Evening News and Fijaches, United is preparing an impressive £87.5 million proposal for Wharton, with plans crafted by Amorim and INEOS sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford.
The 21-year-old midfielder has quickly become one of the standout players in the Premier League since joining Selhurst Park in January 2024. He has now emerged as United’s preferred target, and Amorim is confident that Wharton’s skills can transform the team’s midfield dynamics. Furthermore, after being called up to the England national team, his market value has increased as United looks to gather the necessary financial resources for his acquisition.
Wharton’s Aspirations
Wharton’s agent, James Featherstone, commented earlier this season on the importance of competing for a top club if Wharton hopes to play in the Champions League.
“When he was at Blackburn, we discussed aiming high and representing England,” his agent stated in an interview with TalkSport.
“To reach that level, one needs to participate in the Champions League, which means playing for a leading team in a top league. While making that leap to a Champions League club can be challenging, our initial plan was to secure a position at a Premier League team.
“We have a strategy in place.”
