Man Utd Engages in Discussions with Four Former Players for Interim Manager Role
Manchester United Considers Former Player as Interim Manager
Manchester United is set to appoint a former player as the temporary manager for the remainder of the current season.
Changes in Management
Following the recent departure of Ruben Amorim, the U18 coach, Darren Fletcher, a former midfielder for United, has been appointed as the interim manager for this week.
However, it is anticipated that Fletcher will only take charge for a short period while the board deliberates on naming a long-term interim manager to lead the team for the rest of the season.
Key Candidates
Reports indicate that United’s management has engaged in initial discussions with several prominent figures, including:
- Darren Fletcher: Currently acting as caretaker manager.
- Michael Carrick: Another former midfielder who has been out of a managerial role since his tenure at Middlesbrough ended last season.
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: The former United manager, whose last position was with Besiktas in the previous year.
Sources suggest that Carrick is now being seriously considered by the club’s board, having previously managed United for a brief time after Solskjaer’s initial termination in 2021.
Additionally, former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has also been in touch with the club. Like Carrick, he is currently without a managerial position following his departure from Leicester City last season.
