Man Utd Aware of Key Element in Sandro Tonali Transfer as Vivell Advocates for Bundesliga Talent
Manchester United Targets Midfield Reinforcements
Manchester United has streamlined its list of potential midfield signings to five candidates, with a standout player from the Bundesliga receiving significant consideration from Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell, as per various reports.
Top Priorities for the Red Devils
Acquiring a new midfielder is the primary focus for Manchester United this summer. The club has identified Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, and Carlos Baleba from Brighton as key target players.
Financial Implications
Each of these prospects is valued at no less than £70 million, indicating that a substantial share of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s transfer budget will be allocated toward the midfield overhaul.
Current Squad Assessment
With Kobbie Mainoo returning to the starting lineup following Ruben Amorim’s exit and showing promise under interim manager Michael Carrick, this development serves as a positive signal. Nonetheless, Manuel Ugarte is struggling to find form, and Casemiro’s intention to depart at the end of the 2025/26 season necessitates the need for additional midfield reinforcements.
Potential Dual Signings
Manchester United could secure two high-profile midfielders this summer. Following a previous shortlist that included 8-12 options, the focus has now shifted to five key targets, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
Speaking with The United Stand (via Give Me Sport), Jacobs indicated that Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali have joined the list alongside previously mentioned Premier League players.
He stated, “About two months ago, they discussed 8-12 candidates, but the focus has now shifted to Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, along with possibly Angelo Stiller and Sandro Tonali.”
“They aim to sign two players from this selection to strengthen their midfield. While alternative options may arise, if they fall short on these priorities, they will need to consider replacements.”
Stiller remains a less conventional option and lacks Premier League experience. However, Jacobs mentions that he has garnered appreciation from the recruitment director Christopher Vivell and football director Jason Wilcox.
“Angelo Stiller is a strong consideration for Manchester United and is valued by both Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox,” Jacobs added.
Sandro Tonali’s Potential Move
Jacobs also brought up Newcastle’s Tonali, who has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal after reportedly being “offered” to the current Premier League leaders on deadline day.
Ex-Everton CEO Keith Wyness stated that Manchester United should not be overlooked, especially if they secure a Champions League spot.
“Understandably, they have supported him during challenging personal circumstances, and I believe he values that support,” he noted.
“Players have to move on and make choices as they see fit. This matter links back to Michael Carrick’s era.”
“If Manchester United qualifies for the Champions League, that might influence Tonali’s decision to join them, especially considering Newcastle’s uncertain status regarding next season’s Champions League qualification.”
“It seems Tonali desires to play in the Champions League, which could indeed play a crucial role in his decision-making process.”
