Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has been excused from club duties following the loss of a family member.
The Ivorian will not be part of the squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brentford.
Head coach Ruben Amorim emphasized that football takes a back seat during such moments. “We are giving all the support to Amad. The next game is not important,” he told reporters.
The 23-year-old has featured in all six of United’s matches this season, starting five, either as a right wing-back or in one of the advanced midfield roles.
His absence follows a turbulent week in which he faced criticism from some fans on social media after interacting with former teammate Alejandro Garnacho, who recently left Old Trafford for Chelsea.
Amad Diallo later deleted his posts on Instagram and X, leading Amorim to advise players to detach from online distractions. “I say the same thing to my players – shut down social media.
It’s like that nowadays. It’s a price you have to pay. The important thing is the club and his friends are real life for Amad. We are here for him. We can win without Amad and we also want to win for him.”
