Mainz Signs Fabio Moreno Fell to Professional Contract

Unexpected Move for the Forward

Mainz has surprisingly decided to offer a professional contract to forward Fabio Moreno Fell. The 25-year-old had gone unnoticed by the football community before this season for understandable reasons. He joined the Bundesliga club from TSV Gau-Odernheim, which competes in the sixth tier, just last summer.

A Unique Journey

Moreno Fell, who hails from Spain, began his football journey in the academy system in Pfalz. He had a brief stint with the Ingolstadt reserves during the 2019/20 season, but that opportunity did not lead to a lasting contract. Subsequently, he returned to the Palatinate region, where he engaged in fifth and sixth tier football with various clubs throughout much of his twenties.

Impressive Performances Lead to Main Squad

Following standout performances with the Mainz reserves this season, Moreno Fell was included in matchday squads by former head coach Bo Henriksen. He received an unexpected starting chance under interim coach Benjamin Hoffmann in a match against Borussia Mönchengladbach on matchday 13.
