Mainz 05 signs Ivorian prodigy Alynho Haidara

Mainz 05 has signed 17-year-old Ivorian striker Alynho Haidara after defeating several European clubs in the race for his signature.

The German club values his speed, skill, and sharp goal sense.

Haidara chose Mainz because of the strong connection between the club and the academy of former Burkina Faso striker Aristide Bancé, who mentors him.

Transfermarkt confirmed the deal, which strengthens Mainz’s growing link with West African football.

FIFA had hinted at Haidara’s next destination when it published the team lists for the U17 World Cup starting on November 3.

The document revealed his future club, confirming earlier speculation.

Haidara began his football journey at the Mainz 05 academy in Jacqueville.

Bancé founded the academy in 2022 to develop Ivorian talent and prepare players for international football.

The young striker represents its early success story.

Scouts noticed Haidara’s talent early. The Guardian listed him among the best players born in 2008.

His technique, speed, and composure in front of goal earned him recognition across Africa.

Haidara trained with Mainz’s first-team staff during a trial at the Bruchweg Stadium in the autumn of 2024.

He impressed coaches with his confidence and precise finishing. The club then decided to bring him in permanently.

The young forward dominated at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring the most goals as Ivory Coast claimed third place.

His performances confirmed his reputation as one of Africa’s brightest young attackers.

Haidara will turn 18 before officially joining Mainz at the end of July 2026.

The move will begin a new stage in his development and deepen Mainz’s investment in African talent.
