Maignan Poised to Leave Milan with Chelsea Gaining Advantage Despite Last
Mike Maignan Set to Leave AC Milan as Chelsea Leads Pursuit
Chelsea’s Interest in Maignan
AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan appears to be on his way out of the club as a free agent, with Chelsea reportedly at the forefront of the competition to acquire his services, even amid a last-minute contract offer from his current team.
Chelsea initially showed interest in the 30-year-old custodian during the summer transfer window but opted not to meet AC Milan’s valuation of £25 million.
Ongoing Contract Negotiations
Maignan’s existing contract with the Italian side is due to conclude at the season’s end, and discussions regarding a new agreement have stalled. Recent reports from CalcioMercato indicate that AC Milan has not honored a €5 million offer extended to Maignan several months ago.
Despite this impasse, AC Milan’s sporting director, Igli Tare, is expected to attempt to rekindle negotiations with Maignan’s representatives; however, the disparity between the player’s demands and the club’s offer remains substantial.
From January 1st, if there is no new contract in place, the France international will be eligible to initiate discussions for a ‘pre-agreement’ with clubs outside of Italy.
