Peterborough United Chairman Discusses Sacking of Manager
Peterborough United’s chairman, Darragh MacAnthony, has provided insights into the decision to dismiss manager Darren Ferguson.
Poor Performance Leads to Change
The team currently occupies the last position in the League One standings, having suffered a 2-1 defeat at home against Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.
Chairman’s Statement
“I have made the decision to terminate Darren Ferguson’s contract following today’s match,” MacAnthony stated in an official announcement. “This choice was not made lightly, but I believe it is the right decision for the club.”
Acknowledging Ferguson’s Contributions
“The gaffer remains the greatest manager in the history of the club and will always be considered a cherished member of both my family and the club’s family,” MacAnthony continued.
“There are numerous unforgettable moments that I could mention, and the many historic triumphs will stay with me forever.”
Ferguson’s recent tenure marked the fourth occasion he had held the managerial position at Peterborough.
