Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has praised Morocco for winning the 2025 U-20 World Cup, calling the victory “great news for world football.”
Speaking in Paris, Enrique said Morocco’s 2-0 win over Argentina in Santiago showed how far African football has come.
“It’s always good when new nations make history,” he said. “Morocco deserve every bit of praise.”
Yassir Zabiri scored both goals in the first half to give the Atlas Lions their first U-20 world title. The win capped a remarkable campaign that included victories over Spain, Brazil, and France.
Enrique manages Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi at PSG and said they spoke about the win.
“Yes, we joked about it,” he said with a smile. “It’s great news for everyone who loves football.”
The former Spain and Barcelona coach said Morocco’s rise reflects football’s changing balance of power.

He added that Morocco’s role as a 2026 World Cup co-host with Spain and Portugal shows its growing influence.
