Germany’s World Cup-winning captain Lothar Matthaus has admitted that he initially underestimated Nick Woltemade’s decision to join Newcastle United.
Initial Doubts About Woltemade
Matthaus had his reservations when Woltemade chose a move to Newcastle instead of Bayern Munich after leaving VfB Stuttgart during the summer transfer window.
Rising Value of Woltemade
Matthaus noted that if Woltemade were to consider another transfer now, his value would already be in the triple digits. With his recent goals in the Premier League and his contribution to the national team, he has only increased his market value.
He also expressed belief that Woltemade will stay with Newcastle for some time before thinking about any further transfers.
Woltemade’s move from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle could eventually reach €90 million, and he has scored six goals for his new club so far this season.
