Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz has expressed his desire to net a goal after failing to contribute yet in terms of scoring or assists this season.
Wirtz has faced challenges in showcasing his skills in the Premier League following his £116 million transfer to Liverpool this summer, as he strives to return to his peak performance under manager Arne Slot.

Wirtz seeks to make a greater impact
While the team has enjoyed a flawless start to the season, observers have noted Wirtz’s absence from the score sheet, leading to some concerns among supporters. In a conversation with Sky Germany, Wirtz admitted he indeed hopes to score soon.
“Absolutely, I would have preferred to have scored a goal or contributed some points. But regardless of the opinions out there, I’m staying composed.
“I recognize what I can do and I know I’ll showcase my abilities on the pitch eventually, so I’m keeping my cool. That’s a good mindset to maintain.
“I don’t wish to hear repeated calls for patience; I’m focused on improving my performance with every match.
“Sometimes, there are just moments when things don’t unfold in your favor; this hasn’t been a common experience for me during my career.”
Emphasizing the importance of patience
The young German talent has demonstrated flashes of his potential and emphasizes that fans should remain patient as he integrates into a star-studded Liverpool lineup.
“Once I get through this phase—which may seem harsh because I’m not playing poorly, I merely lack scoring registrations—it will come, and everything will be fine.
“It’s well-known that I’d like to achieve more so far, but I’m exercising patience. As I mentioned, I fully believe in my ability to play well. Eventually, I’m confident everything will revert to normal.”
At just 22 years of age, Wirtz turned down interest from both Manchester City and Bayern Munich to join the Premier League champions. Slot had a clear objective for this summer transfer and those questioning Wirtz’s capabilities may need to reconsider, especially given Slot’s unbeaten record this season.
