Liverpool’s Recent Performance

Liverpool experienced a surprising 3-0 defeat at home against Nottingham Forest this past Saturday. This loss marks their sixth setback in seven league matches under manager Arne Slot, who is reportedly looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Transfer Targets

Among the players previously linked with the club is Michael Olise, who has had an impressive season with Bayern Munich, scoring nine goals and assisting another ten in just 18 games. The French forward is seen as a potential heir to Mohamed Salah, who will turn 34 next year.

However, according to journalist Florian Plettenburg, Liverpool is not actively pursuing Olise at this moment and has shifted its focus to Antoine Semenyo instead.

Plettenburg stated:

Liverpool holds an interest in Michael Olise and sees him as a long-term target. Nevertheless, contrary to some reports, they are not planning to make an offer at this time. The primary reasons include the absence of a release clause in his contract, Bayern Munich’s unwillingness to engage in negotiations, and Olise’s own preference to remain. Currently, Liverpool’s efforts are concentrated on Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo’s Situation

Antoine Semenyo has a release clause estimated to be around £65 million. Liverpool is expected to make an early bid to secure his transfer as soon as the January window opens.

Additionally, it has been reported that Manchester United and rival club Manchester City are also monitoring Semenyo’s situation, indicating a potentially competitive pursuit for the forward.
