Liverpool Makes Bold Move for Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi
Liverpool’s Ambitious Bid
Liverpool has allegedly put forward an ‘assertive offer’ for Borussia Dortmund player Karim Adeyemi, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United.
The reigning Premier League champions aimed to make a significant impact during this summer’s transfer window, spending over £400 million collectively on various high-profile additions.
Focus on Offensive Revamp
The focus for Liverpool has primarily been on revamping their attacking options, highlighted by breaking the British transfer record twice to secure talents like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, as well as investing an additional £80 million in Hugo Ekitike.
Despite these efforts, the team’s offensive performance this season has been lackluster, with the underwhelming form of several key players leading to a sharp decline under head coach Arne Slot.
Challenges in Attack
Recent weeks have added to Liverpool’s offensive woes, particularly due to the Mohamed Salah situation and the injury to summer signing Isak, who has been sidelined for several months due to a leg fracture.
These circumstances have intensified speculation linking the club to various potential short- to long-term solutions to address the gap left by Isak, with Adeyemi being a prominent name in discussions.
Adeyemi’s Performance and Availability
So far this season, Adeyemi has netted six goals and provided three assists in 22 matches for Dortmund. His contract, which runs until 2027, may allow him to be acquired at a reasonable price in the near future.
Sources indicate that Dortmund has been taken aback by Liverpool’s proposal, which is anticipated to be turned down flatly.
Dortmund’s Response
Reports state: “Liverpool has made an approach, but unless there’s an unforeseen development, their offer will be outright rejected. Nonetheless, their initiation of contact signifies that Karim Adeyemi is indeed available on the market, and his name will continue to circulate frequently.”
Furthermore, they suggested that “the summer of 2026 could emerge as a pivotal moment that ultimately shapes the career trajectory of a player with much potential.”
Interest in Alexander Sorloth
Alongside their pursuit of Adeyemi, Liverpool is also considering a move for former Premier League forward Alexander Sorloth, who is currently with Atletico Madrid.
A new report from journalist Matteo Moretto sheds light on Atletico’s attitude toward allowing his transfer.
He noted: “It is expected that Sorloth will remain, but Atletico will evaluate any substantial offers that come in. They are looking for a fee between £35 million and £40 million.”
