Liverpool Eyes Potential Reunion with Bundesliga Star Hugo Ekitike as Affordable Transfer Option Proposed

Liverpool Eyeing Speedy Winger to Enhance Squad Options

Liverpool is reportedly planning to strengthen their winger lineup, with a focus on one of the fastest young talents in football. Hugo Ekitike may also play an indirect role in this search.

Current Transfer Strategy Amid Lackluster Performance

Despite recent mixed results, Arne Slot’s team is not expecting a busy January transfer window. However, they are still monitoring players who could add quality and depth to the squad.

Targeting New Wing Talent

Liverpool is considering the signing of a new left winger who can compete with Cody Gakpo. Jean-Matteo Bahoya of Eintracht Frankfurt is one of the names being evaluated.

Scouting reports highlight Liverpool’s strong interest in the quick winger, who showed impressive chemistry with Ekitike during the previous season.

This campaign, Bahoya has maintained good form, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 12 appearances across competitions.

Speed as a Distinct Advantage

Bahoya stands out for his strong dribbling and outstanding pace. He reached a top speed of 37.16 km/h in a match against Bochum last season, becoming the first Bundesliga player to surpass the 37 km/h mark.

Liverpool aims to add more speed to their squad, and Bahoya fits this need well. His previous connection with Ekitike is also viewed as a positive factor, while Liverpool maintain a good relationship with Frankfurt after completing a transfer for the striker last summer.

Challenges in Securing Bahoya

There are signs that Frankfurt does not want to let Bahoya leave. The club is working on offering him a new contract to secure his long-term future.

The plan includes improved terms that reflect his rising importance. If the new deal is not agreed, Liverpool could have a chance to pursue him at a reasonable fee.

Strengthening the left wing has been an ongoing topic for Liverpool, who have previously looked at options such as Anthony Gordon and Malick Fofana in past windows.

Still, the club chose to focus on other positions last summer and placed trust in 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha, who has made a strong early impression this season.

Potential Alternatives in the Market

Bahoya remains a strong candidate, but Liverpool are also assessing other attacking options. Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo is viewed as another possible target for long-term planning, especially in case a future replacement is needed for Mohamed Salah.

A significant bid may be required to test Bournemouth’s stance, as Semenyo is considered a key player for the club.

For now, Liverpool are not preparing major moves for January. The club believes the current squad is strong enough to compete for trophies after the investments made during the summer.
