Liverpool Considered Bold Transfer with Man City Involving Luis Diaz
Negotiations for a Major Player Exchange
Reports have emerged suggesting that Liverpool contemplated an audacious transfer arrangement with Manchester City, which would have involved Luis Diaz departing Anfield while Julian Alvarez would join the Reds last summer.
According to information from The Telegraph, Diaz, 28, expressed a desire to move to Pep Guardiola’s squad after learning of their interest.
Reluctance from Liverpool
Although Liverpool appeared hesitant to approve the transfer, they explored the possibility of acquiring Alvarez, who is 25 years old, as a part of this exchange.
The story further reveals that Manchester City quickly dismissed Liverpool’s inquiry, as they were unwilling to let Alvarez strengthen a competitor within the Premier League.
Alvarez’s Successful Move
Alvarez eventually made a switch to Atletico Madrid, with reports indicating the deal was completed for around £82 million. He had an impressive season, netting 29 goals and recording seven assists in 54 appearances.
