Lingard Faces Premier League Setback in Quest for New Club After Man Utd Stint
Jesse Lingard Still in Search of New Club After West Ham Rejection
Lingard’s Past Journey and Current Status
Jesse Lingard continues his pursuit of a new team after becoming a free agent, having recently faced a setback with West Ham United opting not to bring him back.
After achieving a notable tally of 19 goals in 67 appearances for FC Seoul, Lingard now finds himself ready to return to European football following his release from the club in December.
West Ham’s Final Decision
Lingard’s time in South Korea spanned almost two years, starting in 2024. Despite his impactful performance, he has had difficulty securing a new destination in recent weeks, even as various clubs are on the lookout for seasoned midfield talent.
According to reports from talkSPORT, West Ham was one of the Premier League teams that turned down the opportunity to re-sign Lingard as the transfer window drew to a close. Instead, manager Nuno Espirito Santo chose to recruit Adama Traore, previously of Wolves, for a mere £2 million.
Lingard has often been associated with a possible return to West Ham; however, with the winter transfer window now closed, the prospect of the 33-year-old rejoining the club appears slim as he approaches the twilight of his playing career.
Future Possibilities
Recent updates suggest that the former England international, along with ex-Manchester United player Lingard, is contemplating moves to clubs outside of Europe, as these teams still have the opportunity to sign players over the upcoming weeks.
Lingard now finds himself among other notable English free agents like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling, who may also face a wait until the summer for their next opportunities.
