Laporta Affirms Possibility of Barcelona Reunion with Gironas Ter Stegen

Germany’s Goalkeeper Moves to Girona on Loan

Ter Stegen’s Transfer

The goalkeeper from Germany has made a switch from Barcelona to Girona for the remainder of the season on a loan basis. Marc-André ter Stegen’s transfer comes as he has found himself as the third-choice option this season, trailing behind Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny in the team’s hierarchy.

Support from Laporta

However, Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, expressed his hopes regarding the situation: “We anticipate this is merely a temporary farewell. Marc-André, returning from injury, needs match experience, and he will find more playing time in Girona. He is an outstanding goalkeeper, arguably among the best globally.”

Laporta further elaborated on the complexities of this arrangement, stating, “This has created mixed emotions since we wish the best for him while simultaneously wanting him at Barcelona. But as the German national team coach has indicated, if Marc wishes to participate in the World Cup, he must be actively playing. Continuing his recovery here could hinder his match readiness.”

Terms of the Loan

Laporta went on to clarify: “Marc-André is aware that Barcelona is his true home, and this loan extends until the end of the season. After that, my hope is for him to join the World Cup, after which we can discuss his future further.”

He reassured fans, saying, “He has a contract with us and is certainly still a Barcelona player. I wish our great captain all the best, as he is not only an exceptional goalkeeper but also a wonderful person.”
