Laporta Accuses Xavi of Causing Pain and Damaging His Reputation
Xavi Criticizes Laporta, Claims Misleading Information
Xavi has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with Joan Laporta in a recent interview, asserting that he was deceived by the Barcelona president regarding key issues.
Laporta Responds to Accusations
During a presidential debate on Sunday against rival candidate Victor Font, Laporta addressed the allegations made by Xavi, noting, “I was taken aback. It was painful. Being the president of Barça is a challenging role, requiring tough decisions, including the dismissal of Xavi.”
Justifications For His Decisions
Laporta firmly defended his choices by stating, “The evidence suggests I made the right call, as Xavi would still be facing defeats at the helm. I empathize with his frustration, especially considering that Hansi Flick is now achieving success with the same players.”
He added, “It’s disheartening that he allowed himself to be manipulated and chose to attack Alejandro Echevarría, who, alongside Rafael Yuste, were among the strongest supporters of Xavi during his tenure.”
Allegations of Manipulation
Laporta accused Xavi of trying to tarnish his reputation, saying, “He aimed to damage my credibility. He allowed himself to be exploited by Víctor Font, who is working behind the scenes to undermine my presidency.”
